Saviours Who? - 2

Controversies galore! Controversies never seem to end. And now its Varun Gandhi and the Election Commission of India.

What I saw on TV is blatantly shameful, mischievous, ugly, un-Indian. I think, being a big fan of Varun Gandhi, he has let me down. He has let his family down. He has let his party down. He has let India down.

I see it as an 'opportunity lost'. How many people in the country can boast of such a head start in life? Varuns and Rahuls and Priyankas and others are lucky. They are blessed to have taken birth into these families. The pinnacle where an ordinary citizen ends up after a successful lifetime, these blessed youngesters get a 'free' start at this 'pinnacle'. I often wonder, do these guys deserve this? And then they mess up? Perhaps they have not earned it! They have not sweat for it. No pains, yet they have the gains. Am I jealous? Perhaps at times.

The Election Commission. I have always had the respect for this institution. Thanks to the 'Sheshan Effect'. I saw, for the first time, the Indian political landscape afraid of someone. The EC has done a great job of conducting  elections. I have always asked myself, when will Indian elections be 'clean'? You have all sorts of criminals fighting and winning elections. You have politicians shielding such criminals. Criminals become ministers. God save my country!? Can somebody do anything about it? This was one of my reasons to join as an active member of the BJP. I want to contribute my small bit. As Advaniji exhorts, Ek Kaam Desh Ke Naam.

Today I am pained to see the EC in shambles. What is happening? Varun Gandhi did something nasty. EC was quick in decision - guilty, moral policing the BJP. Why single out Varun Gandhi? Does the EC has some personal scores to settle - with - Varun Gandhi, or his mother Mrs. Maneka Gandhi, or even his late father Sh. Sanjay Gandhi, or the BJP itself? If not, then why single out Varun Gandhi? I am not defending what Varun did. I have already spoken on that in the beginning.

The EC should have the guts to take on the history sheeters, the convicted, the under trials, the Mayawatis, the Azharuddins, the Laalus, the Mulayams, the Jayalalitas, the Jogis, the Sukh Rams, the Singhi Rams, -------------. Are you listening, EC? If Varun comes into your domain, then surely the 'others' should too. In Varun's case You (EC) moved in a matter of hours! (independently?) and for the 'others', you are in the Kumbhakarana State of eternal sleep. Why do you have a blind eye for something that is damaging the country, my India? Is this not the Constitutional Responsibility of the EC?

The whole Nation saw the 'Kissa Kursi Ka'.! This is as 'shameful' as Varun Gandhi's fiasco. You are acting on Varun Gandhi, who will act on you? The EC should be and has to look neutral and independent. This is what India needs. The referee should be neutral and impartial.
Mera Bharat Mahaan. Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
